IMPACT SETX is the program for you!

Credibility

IMPACT SETX builds on the longstanding success and experience of the Region 5 Teacher Certification Program (TCP), which was approved by the State Board for Educator Certification on July 27, 2007. For nearly two decades, the TCP has evolved to meet changing legislative requirements, expand certification opportunities, and continually refine its curriculum to meet the needs of beginning educators.

In 2026, the program entered a new chapter as IMPACT SETX, carrying forward the strong foundation of the TCP while embracing a renewed vision for educator preparation in Southeast Texas. IMPACT SETX will launch its first online only cohort in Fall 2026, continuing a legacy of preparing highly qualified educators and school leaders who make a lasting impact in their communities.

Paid Internship with Full Teacher Benefits

One of the benefits of IMPACT SETX interns is that they are paid as the teacher-of-record with full benefits and full-time teacher salary while they are participants in the program and earning their standard teaching certificate.

Support Systems

Region 5 partners with employing districts to provide a strong support system for IMPACT SETX teachers. Beginning teachers have a variety of needs during their shift into the teaching profession. Support for beginning teachers is provided through campus mentoring, monthly professional development meetings, electronic communication and phone correspondence. The Region 5 IMPACT SETX staff is committed to responding quickly to our IMPACT SETX interns.

Connectedness

Region 5 IMPACT SETX interns benefit from the connections, contacts and relationships they build while going through our program. IMPACT SETX interns receive the latest information from the Texas Education Agency as well as develop a lasting contact for future assistance.

Online Program

Designed for today’s busy, non-traditional educator, the IMPACT SETX online program provides a flexible and accessible pathway to teacher certification. Candidates complete coursework through an online learning environment, allowing them to engage with assignments and course materials within their own timeframe while balancing professional and personal responsibilities.

Curriculum

IMPACT SETX's curriculum is based on state standards established by the State Board for Educator Certification and are aligned with TExES, the T-TESS Framework, as well as the state curriculum established for Texas public schools (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills-TEKS). This ensures that teachers are prepared with current information which is relevant to them and to their teaching profession.
